Sikagard ® 510
Transition Seam Tape Primer

Description

Sikagard 510 Transition Seam Tape Primer is a high tack primer for use with SikaMultiSeal 515 Self-Adhered Transition Seam Tape.

Where to Use

To be used in conjunction with SikaMultiSeal 515 Self-Adhered Transition Seam Tape. Acceptable substrates are above grade exterior wall substrates including precast concrete, cast-in place concrete, concrete block, primed steel, aluminum mill finish, anodized aluminum, galvanized metal, gypsum board and wood.

Advantages

Sikagard 510 Transition Seam Tape Primer is used as a surface conditioner to aid the adhesion of SikaMultiSeal 515 Self-Adhered Transition Seam Tape when ap- plied to plywood and gypsum sheathing, steel, concrete and concrete masonry units.

  • Quick setting.
  • Aggressive tack provides adhesion of membrane.
  • Suitable for application at normal and low temperatures.
  • Easily applied.

Coverage

Apply at a rate of 250 - 350 linear feet per gallon for 6” seam tape ( 20.1 to 28.1 linear meters per liter) to provide even coverage depending upon porosity of the substrate.

How to Use

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of frost, dirt, dust, loose concrete, grease, oil, contaminants or other foreign matter that may adversely affect the adhesion of the self-adhered transition seam tape. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for SikaMultiSeal 515 Self-Adhered Tape for acceptable surface conditions of substrates and minimum application temperatures. Thinning of the primer is not permitted.

Mixing

Stir liquid membrane thoroughly prior to application.

Application

Apply by brush or roller. Rollers should have a medium nap of natural materials. Allow primer to dry before applying SikaMultiSeal® 515 Self-Adhered Transition Seam Tape. Tack free time is approximately 20 to 45 minutes. Replace lids to avoid excessive product evaporation. Bubbling of the primer may occur as it cures. Primed surfaces not covered by self-adhered transition seam tape during the same working day must be re-primed.
